HB 182 Rental Amendments by Representative Bennion
The House Business and Labor Committee heard HB 182 on Friday. The bill, sponsored by Representative Bennion (D), Cottonwood Heights, would require rental operators give 60 days’ notice of rent increase while in a lease. RHA supported a similar bill last year by another sponsor, but the bill was killed in the Senate. As we began negotiations this year with Representative Bennion, we offered to try to alter the bill in a way that would pass the Senate but Representative Bennion decided to run her bill with no changes or input from RHA, so we opposed it this year.
The bill failed to advance after a 6-6 vote in committee.
